Louisiana Wildflowers - Spring 2010

I took a walk today and took pics of a few wildflowers along the way. This is the same barbed wire and honeysuckle vine that I photographed last fall. No flowers yet, but I'm watching it.

Blackberry vines everywhere... I can't wait!

Not sure what this bush is, but it was 7-8 feet tall and at the edge of the woods.
                                blue-eyed grass, I think.
vines of Carolina jasmine are everywhere.

a field of yellow whatever they are

We think this is Grancey Greybeard about to burst into bloom.

The yard in my childhood home was covered with a darker purple version of this wildflower every spring.

Pincushion Nettle. I went back later and it was covered with bees.

                                         pink spiderwort

First wild onion of 2010

Spring has sprung! I spotted this wild onion coming up in front of the compost bin. I waited for the blooms to open, then snapped the pic. Now they're coming up all over the property.

Black olive penguins

We had another snow and Dad became (jokingly) obsessed with having penguin meat for the grill. So I made him a few penguins out of black olives, cream cheese and carrots.

Free puzzles

My local thrift store gives puzzles away because they can't assure the customer that all pieces are there. The above puzzle was my first freebie and has no missing pieces. I'm sending it to my niece's children for Valentine's Day.

Sunrays

On the way home from the dump one morning, Dad and I were treated to the musical, "Sunrays Dancing on a Country Road." Dad stopped the truck and grabbed the camera.

Sunset at the Camp

It's different every evening on Toledo Bend Lake. I love being at the camp and fishing with Dad.
